Eileen Mielcarek RNFA, BSN, COE
Founder, Media Eye Works
Eileen Mielcarek is not only the founder of Media Eye Works, but she is also cofounder of the Mielcarek Eye Center and founder of Facial Rejuventation at Mielcarek. A certified surgical room nurse and a nationally certified nurse educator, Eileen has been a repeated entrepreneural leader in healthcare throughout her professional career.
During the course of establishing Media Eye Works, Eileen also became a certified optician. Her inspiration and vision for this venture was complimented with the advice and ideas of her husband, Dr. Leon Mielcarek, one of the area’s preeminent ophthalmologic surgeons.
Eileen is a nationally certified nurse educator. She regularly conducts seminars and lectures on Advanced Cataract Surgery Technology and Lasik Custom Wavefront Surgery. Eileen is also a certified dry eye disease educator and published author, and her work on ophthalmic surgical nursing techniques can be found in Chapter 18 of the Alexander’s Care of the Patient textbook.
While Eileen continues in an advisory role to Media Eye Works, she now focuses the majority of her time on leading Facial Rejuvenation at Mielcarek, a highly personalized, integrative and comprehensive approach to skin care. Facial Rejuvenation’s services range from aesthetic facial spa treatments to non-invasive procedures to lift and tighten your skin to advanced cosmetic surgery by some of the area’s leading board-certified oculofacial plastic surgeons.
Eileen provides pretreatment consultations on Botox, Restylane, Juvederm, the Obagi Skin Transformation System, Latisse, and vitamin therapy. She is a certified nurse injector for facial injectables as well as being certified in a variety of medical aesthetic facial treatments. Eileen is also actively involved in Facial Rejuvenation’s cosmetic surgery consultation process from initial assessments through post-surgery care.
She is an RN graduate of the University of Pennsylvania School of Nursing and can also frequently be found in the halls of Wharton’s Executive Management Program brushing up on her business skills.
Eileen grew up in Wallingford, Delaware County, enjoys cooking classes in her spare time, but most of all, loves spending time with her three daughters, her sons-in-law, and her grandchildren.
Leon M. Mielcarek, Jr., M.D., F.A.C.S.
Founder Emeritus / 1936 – 2016
Leon M. Mielcarek, Jr., M.D., F.A.C.S., was born and raised in Delaware County, PA. During high school, he developed ambitions to become a physician and found a medical center. Dr. Mielcarek accomplished these goals, co-founding Mielcarek Eye Center in Media, PA, with his wife, Eileen, in 1978, and raising a family in the area.
In addition, Dr. Mielcarek’s vision of care and service to his community carried into providing key guidance to Media Eye Works in its founding as an complimenting offshoot to his ophthalmology practice. He played a key role in helping our shop evolve over the last 25 years.
Dr. Mielcarek delighted in the warm relationships that he had with his patients. He continued to cover a full schedule at the medical practice until a few days before he died at the age of 79.
After attending the University of Pennsylvania, Dr. Mielcarek completed his medical degree from Jefferson Medical College. He was the Chief Resident of Ophthalmology at the renowned University of Penn Scheie Eye Institute. Dr. Mielcarek worked under Dr Scheie himself during his residency. He was also a Lieutenant in the Navy, serving as Battalion Surgeon for 9th Marines and also soloed at the Naval School of Aviation Medicine in Pensacola, FL.
Dr. Mielcarek was known for both his compassionate medical care as well as his mastery of the most advanced technologies and treatments for eye care. He was one of the most well-known, experienced and respected eye physicians in the Greater Philadelphia-area and Delaware Valley.
The patient empathy and detailed care that was his hallmark continues to be the practice philosophy that guides us with every customer that we see at Media Eye Works.
